The Jamaica Business Fund hosted a Consultation on a draft Castor Bean Production Manual and a Ginger Varietal Study held on February 15, 2018 at the Courtleigh Hotel. The JBF commissions specific studies, surveys and analyses that are required by various sectors to assist with enhancing production, employment, export, import substitution or that address industry specific challenges and/or resolve policy issues that may affect the sector.

The two (2) sector studies that were the subjects of this consultation are aimed at 1). developing a technical manual on the production of castor bean in Jamaica for farmers, investors and policy makers in Jamaica and will include an investment profile and 2). assuring the propagation of local varieties of ginger to permit processing and export of greater quantities of these varieties which are in high market demand. The studies were done in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries (MICAF) and the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA).
